The 21.8 kW rating describes a brief welding pulse, not continuous output or wall-outlet power consumption. The adapter's 15 A rating refers to its charging output, not mains input current.
Material thickness guidance
Rated welding thicknesses: up to 0.4 mm pure nickel, 0.2 mm copper, and 0.8 mm nickel-plated sheet. Results depend on material grade, layer arrangement, electrode condition, pressure, and settings. Validate your exact material stack on suitable test pieces before working on cells.
Safe setup and use
- Read the supplied manual. Wear eye protection and work on a stable, nonflammable surface with ventilation and a clear work area.
- Use the supplied adapter, wait for the ready indication, and keep the welder connected to its charger during use as instructed.
- Start at a low setting and practice on test material. Inspect weld strength before assembling a pack; excessive energy or poor contact can burn through a cell casing.
- Secure and maintain the welding tips. Use steady pressure and firm contact. Never bridge a cell's positive and negative terminals with the probes or conductive strip.
- If the welder overheats or stops output, stop and allow it to cool. Do not bypass protection features or use damaged cells.
- A completed battery pack requires appropriate insulation, fusing, BMS protection, conductor sizing, a compatible charger, and thermal management. A welder does not make an unsafe pack design safe.

The display provides separate adjustments for welding mode, output level, preheat, pulse interval, trigger delay, and repeat count. Preheat sets the first pulse, the interval sets the pause before the main weld, and trigger delay controls the wait after electrode contact in automatic mode.

Wow, these cells are great!
I purchased some of these tabless cells to try on my 1S 3" HD Toothpick drone build, and, albeit a bit heavy for 1S, it flies pretty well. Not a freestyle monster, but an endurance beast with decent send. These cells shrug off the demands of a BETAFPV Matrix HD AIO flight controller/12A ESC and some 1202.5 11000KV motors. I'm getting 15+ minutes of speedy flight time from a single cell trying not to go below 3.2V, and about 20+ minutes cruising. Love these cells and will definitely buy more when time comes, only from DIY500AMP, who are terrific!
