For battery cells, review the product description for real-world current recommendations, testing notes, and application guidance. Manufacturer maximum ratings should be treated as limits, not the best target for long-term pack health.
Description
Milwaukee M18-Compatible DIY Battery Case & PCB Kit
Build or repair an M18-compatible 18V lithium-ion battery pack using the case size that matches your cells. The 18650 6Ah and 21700 8Ah versions use different housings, internal holders, and PCB assemblies.
No battery cells are included. This is a component kit for experienced battery builders and qualified repair technicians.
18650 / 6Ah Version
Configuration: 10 matched 18650 cells in 5S2P.
Intended capacity: 6Ah when assembled with matched 3,000mAh cells. Final capacity depends on the cells installed.
This version includes the 18650-size housing, 10-cell holder, and matching PCB assembly shown in the 18650 photos. It is not compatible with 21700 cells.
21700 / 8Ah Version
Configuration: 10 matched 21700 cells in 5S2P.
Intended capacity: 8Ah when assembled with matched 4,000mAh cells. Final capacity depends on the cells installed.
This version includes the larger 21700-size housing, 10-cell holder, and matching PCB assembly shown in the 21700 photos. It is not compatible with 18650 cells.
Optional WELLGO busbar upgrade, sold separately: Add the Milwaukee M18 FORGE 8Ah 21700 Copper-Nickel Busbar Set for a 0.3 mm copper interconnect with 0.15 mm nickel welding contacts.
Save $2 when purchased together: The discount applies automatically at checkout when one 21700 / 8Ah case kit and one qualifying WELLGO busbar set are in the cart.
The busbar set is an optional add-on and is not included with this case and PCB kit. Confirm fitment before welding.
Kit Contents
- One M18-compatible plastic battery housing for the selected cell size
- One matching 10-cell holder
- One matching PCB/protection-board assembly
- Assembly hardware and exterior components shown in the selected variant photos
- No lithium-ion cells included
PCB color, component layout, labels, and minor cosmetic details can vary by production batch. Confirm that the received components match your intended cell layout before assembly.
Assembly and Safety Requirements
- Use only genuine, matched cells of the same model, capacity, age, voltage, and similar internal resistance.
- Bring every cell to the same voltage before assembly.
- Verify the complete 5S2P layout, polarity, and board connections before welding.
- Use a suitable battery spot welder. Do not solder directly to lithium-ion cell terminals.
- Insulate the PCB and every conductive connection from cell cans and other metal surfaces.
- Verify charging, discharge, temperature sensing, and protection behavior before placing the pack in service.
Improper cell selection, welding, insulation, wiring, or charging can damage the cells, PCB, tool, or charger and may cause fire or injury. Purchase and assembly require practical lithium-ion battery-building knowledge.
